A World of Opportunities
Vol. 8 Missions Opportunities
Subject Here
No matter what your talents, God can use them to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are all kinds of opportunities! But, you don't have to wait
to grow up to help. You can start right now by praying, adopting a people group, and telling others about Christ.

MR. CHRISTOPHER: Any day now, it will be here.

SURFER BOB: Oh no, don’t tell me, the surfin' rodeo is comin’ to town and I missed registration, didn’t I?

PENNY: Bob I gave you a PDA to keep track of all your appointments. We synchronized our calendars last week, you better not lose any data.

SURFER BOB: PDA? Oh, yeah, my Personal Data Assistant. Well, you see, Penorita, remember that time I was catchn' ten and then, Penny, what was the question?

PENNY: I think it's time to reboot and scan the hard drive for viruses. Bob’s beginning to have some memory problems.

SURFER BOB: Reboot. No ma’am. Fresh pair, lizard skin. Got’em last week, or was that

MR. CHRISTOPHER: Teachable moment Penny. Your advanced technological contraption is letting you down. See, that’s why I prefer books. A book won’t let you down. I received all my education through books and continue to learn something new every time I pick one up.

PENNY: Yeah, but sometimes things can be done faster and easier on a computer. Anyway, that’s not important, what did you order? (excited)

MR. CHRISTOPHER: Something very special, Penny. I ordered the newly revised Geoford’s Unabridged Almanac Series volumes one through 10.

PENNY: Wow. That sounds pretty cool. I wonder if they have a Web site.

MR. CHRISTOPHER: I don’t know. C. Alfred Geoford was a famous explorer that relied on things working. It doesn’t look like that computer of yours is too reliable. The Geoford's Almanacs are famous for their accuracy, insight and information on all the peoples of the world. They’re perfect for our research. You can never have too much information.

PENNY: Well I’m sorry to say that it didn’t come today. Here’s all of the mail. All I see are letters from our viewers … here’s an interesting one!

MR. CHRISTOPHER: Very well. I thought it odd that my collection hadn’t arrived yet. (wait for response) Great, appreciate your help. Goodbye.

PENNY: Well. What’s wrong?

MR. CHRISTOPHER: Not a thing Penny. I should have known, Geoford's only uses one-day express mail. Reliability Penny … books, paper, leather bond and no rebooting. It will be here after 2 p.m.

PENNY: Great, does that mean we have to wait to begin our research until then?

MR. CHRISTOPHER: No, not at all. Today’s study is about a world of opportunities. I’ve asked our good friend Mac McKenzie (interrupted, Mac bursts in)

MAC: Mac McKenzie here. Sorry I’m late. I’ve been working on that special assignment Mr. Christopher.

MR. CHRISTOPHER: Well, are you finished?

MAC: Yes sir. Hi Penny. I’ve got it right here.

PENNY: Hi Mac. (little concerned) Mr. C, what’s this ‘special assignment’ all about?

MR. CHRISTOPHER: Why don’t we watch together? This might be another ‘teachable moment’. You see Penny not everything in this world comes through that computer of yours. You have to rely on things you can count on like friends.

MAC: That’s for sure, boy if it wasn’t for Surfer-Bob and the info he pulled up on the Web why it (interrupted).

MR. CHRISTOPHER: Mac, the feature please.

MAC: Right, sorry about that.

PENNY: Wow, that’s really cool. I never knew there were so many opportunities to serve overseas.

MR. CHRISTOPHER: Yes there are, you might even say a ‘world of opportunities’. Hey gang, there are a world of opportunities for you right there in your church. In order to have so many opportunities overseas we need everyone praying and giving so more can go tell the world of Jesus Christ and His love for us.

MAC: Hey Mr. C! There’s an express delivery truck outside. You expecting something?

MR. CHRISTOPHER: Why yes, yes Mac, get out there.

PENNY: Oh boy! It’s here!

MAC: (Returns with envelope) Here ya go Mr. C.

PENNY: It looks a little small to be volumes one through 10.

MR. CHRISTOPHER: Yes, I agree. But this is probably just the confirmation for my (package is opened – it’s a CD-ROM with a small piece of paper) order.

MAC: Here ya go. This will explain it.

PENNY: Dear valued customer. We appreciate your order to the collector's edition of Alfred C. Geoford’s Unabridged Almanac Series volumes one through 10. In an effort to make this precious material more accessible to you and to conserve paper, we’ve published all 10 volumes plus an additional collection of animated maps on one single CD-ROM.

MAC: Wow! That’s awesome. Now searching for info will be a breeze. No flipping through books only to find you’ve got the wrong volume.

PENNY: Or paper cuts, no more paper cuts or pages that get dog eared.

MAC: What about studying at your friends?

PENNY: Right, no more lugging all those heavy books I mean.

MR CHRISTOPHER: OK, OK you two. Enough. Just show me how to use this disk.

PENNY: Come on I’ll show you, but you have to work with Bob on this.

SURFER BOB: Penorita! You out there. I’m about rebooted here. I could use a little … aaahhhh, Penny! What happened.

MR. CHRISTOPHER: Very funny Bob, it's time we went exploring with C. Alfred Geoford.

SURFER BOB: Oh yea, he was a surfin' buddy of mine. I knew him back in 71, or was that 81. Anyway …
