Population:
474 million
Size: 4,900,155 sq. miles
Major Religions: Buddhist,
Hindu, Muslim, Catholic, Protestant, Anglicans
Economy: Australia and
New Zealand are wealthy 'first world' countries. The small populations
and vast distances between island states hold back development
of most islands. They offer few jobs and limited health and
education facilities. These factors have caused many islanders
to immigrate to wealthier areas.
The economies of the Southeast Asian countries range from very
developed, urban, industrial economies in Singapore and Thailand,
to poor, rural, agricultural economies in Bhutan, Nepal and
Cambodia. Asia suffered a major recession in 1997 and is struggling
to recover economically. |

"Tent city" was a big draw
for more than 2 million visitors and Aussies, plus hundreds
of Christians who came to share an Olympic-sized witness. |

This show discusses the problems
related to Christian persecution in Indonesia. Islamic extremism
is tearing the islands of Seram and Ambon apart and creating
a lot of turmoil for Christians living there. Even so, Southern
Baptists continue to go and minister to the people living in
this very dangerous region. |

The Silk Road, which defines
the area known as Central Asia, isn't the smoothest path for
Christianity. Southern Baptists, though, are working to redirect
the flow of belief. |

Our earthly bodies are temples
of the Holy Spirit, and everything that we do with these physical
bodies should be done to glorify God. This is the story of Dr.
Kendrick Kahler, a full-time Southern Baptist volunteer medical
missionary doctor, who followed Jesus Christ all the way to
Cambodia, in spite of the fact that he is confined to a wheelchair. |

Laotians are a river people
who carry scars from the Vietnam War, distrust of outsiders
and a devout allegiance to Buddha. American Christians are working
to bridge the gap. |
