and Middle East |

Population:
1 billion 220 million
Size: 14,741,664 sq. miles
Major Religions: Muslim,
Protestant, Independent, Hindu, Greek and Russian Orthodox,
Jewish
Economy: Africa's economy
has not grown for 40 years. Many countries have become poorer
because of population growth, lack of investment in agriculture,
and little development of food production methods. Some government
rulers have stolen government money, while borrowing more foreign
aid for their country. There have also been devastating famines,
drought and war. Whole economies in central and southern Africa
are deteriorating because of diseases like AIDS, malaria and
tuberculosis.
In the Middle East there are very poor and very rich countries.
There are highly developed urban, industrial economies, and
rural economies where people live in poverty. Parts of the Middle
East are involved in war constantly, making it hard for people
to live or work. |

A lot of AIDS patients in Zimbabwe think
the end is near because they don’t know how long they
will live. By showing them the love of Christ, missionary health
care workers help them reach a new beginning. |

Whether he's dropping off supplies or flying
them to a safer place, missionary pilot Chad Tilley has to keep
his eyes open to the possibility of being shot down. Despite
the dangers, Chad keeps his eyes on his protector and co-pilot
Jesus Christ. |

How do you tell people about Jesus when
the government will not allow you to talk about your Christian
faith? Sometimes you have to be creative! See how a group of
volunteers used art to bring color and hope to lost and discouraged
boys in a detention center in North Africa. |

The source of the Nile River, Lake Victoria,
borders Uganda. Along this border there are hundreds of islands
that are populated with all sorts of people. African-American
field personnel, George and Geraldine Smith, travel by boat
to these islands to share the source of eternal life with the
Ugandan people. |

What’s your favorite color? Many people
would answer blue! For the Tuareg people of West Africa the
color blue holds special significance, and the right to wear
it must be earned. Thankfully, they do not have to earn the
love of Jesus, simply accept it. |

Sometimes bad things happen to good people,
but God can take the bad and use it for good. See how the ministries
of three medical missionaries killed in Yemen left a legacy
that will continue beyond death. |

Despite drought, disease, demon worship
and flooding, Africa's people are turning toward God in greater
numbers than ever before. |
