SPIRIT TREE

I am told that there are some very beautiful islands south of Florida—the Caribbean islands.  The beaches are clean, the sky is clear, and the tropical trees grow tall. It seems like everything would be paradise!

But some of the people have very dark beliefs and it can be hard for Christians to tell others about Jesus without fear. One house church was growing and needed to make room for more people. That meant they would have to cut down a gigantic tree that stood in their way.  It was known as the ‘spirit tree’ and used by others in rituals of Santeria, a religion that mixes African traditional religion with worship of saints. They think that anyone who cuts down a spirit tree will die.

It took courage for the members of the house church to have the tree cut down. Please pray for them to have even more courage and tell everyone in their village about Jesus.
